General Customer Terms and Conditions

I agree to NBTech’s terms and conditions as follows:

I, the customer/client, hereby authorize North Branch Tech Services to work on my device and agree to pay for the requested service upon completion. It is understood that North Branch Tech Services LLCD also referred to as North Branch Tech Services, North Branch Tech, NBTech, and NBT will perform the requested work to the best of its ability and that they are not liable for any damages caused by delay or other performance. The sole remedy for NBTech’s liability of any kind, including negligence, shall be limited to the re-performance of any defective service by NBTech, and in no event will include any incidental or consequential damages.

I, the customer am responsible for having enough licensed copies of software for my devices. I understand that a fresh install of the operating system on my device, reformatting hard drives, or reloading software may result in the loss of personal data. I am responsible for making and maintaining reliable backups. The transfer, conversion, or recovery of data has the potential for data corruption or loss. I understand NBTech cannot be held responsible for any loss of data during the repair of my system.


Condition of Equipment

NBTech will return the repaired device in the condition it was brought in. If there is a serious defect on the computer that is requested to not be repaired, this will be noted. This could be missing keys or cracks in the case, etc. In some cases, small cosmetic changes may appear as a part of the repair process, NBTech will take the utmost care to avoid this from occurring.


Services

Most jobs are completed within 3-5 business days, however, in the case of those that require parts, this can take longer.I, the customer understand I am responsible for backing up any important files and passwords before bringing my device to NBTech.


Backups

On-Site Backups: Unless specifically requested, NBTech will not carry out any backups of data onsite (at I, the client’s location) as this can be very time-consuming. If I, the client, would like NBTech to perform a backup of my data whilst on-site at my location, I understand I will be charged at the on-site hourly rate.


In Shop Backups: NBTech generally recommends backing up important data when a computer arrives in the shop. I, the client understand this will only be completed if I approve of this service. I, the client, understand this service is billed at an additional cost. This backup is an automated process, and the data is stored for 14 days from the end of my service at NBTech, after which it will be securely deleted. If I want multiple backups, or if I do not want my data to be backed up, I will inform NBTech. I, the client, understand that some services, such as a new computer setup or an operating system update include the data backup service, and I agree to allow NBTech to store my data as stated above, unless I inform NBTech otherwise.


Operating System/Software Installation

NBTech can only install software that I, the customer have a valid license for unless it is freely available. For example, a Windows operating system can only be re-installed if the computer has a valid COA sticker or one stored in the UEFI BIOS (the vast majority of systems do have a valid license). Microsoft Office can only be installed with the necessary Office credentials and/or license key.


Data Protection and Privacy

NBTech follows data protection best practices and will do the utmost to protect data. All files are just that, files, NBTech will never purposely view any documents, photographs, etc. unless strictly required for the repair process, for example, data recovery, or testing of files. NBTech will never pass data onto third parties unless required to do so by law. NBTech collects personal information such as passwords, email addresses, contact numbers, and home addresses to necessitate the repair. These will not be passed onto third parties unless required to do so by law. NBTech reserves the right to contact me, the client once the job has been completed, and for questions to aid in the service.

Data Loss

I, the client understand NBTech cannot be responsible for any data loss that occurs during the repair process either on-site or in the shop. However, NBTech will never purposely delete any data other than the recycle bin, temporary files (files that are hidden from the user but make the computer work), or files that a requested to be deleted.

Payments

Deposits

In the case NBTech does sell hardware specific to me, I, the client understand a non refundable deposit of 50-100% may be required upfront.
Payment Obligations

I, the customer, agree to pay the invoice in full for services rendered at the end of the appointment or at the time of pickup. If NBTech chooses to send me an invoice, I understand payment is due upon receipt, and must be settled within a net period of 7 days.
Stored Payment Methods

I understand that NBTech will require a payment method to be stored on file to use for payment of invoices upon request, or if my invoice remains unpaid 30 days after the invoice creation.


Invoicing Notifications

I, the client, understand, that North Branch Tech emails invoices to the main contact on file. Requests for additional contacts to receive invoices must be made explicitly. Invoices can be snail mailed upon request for each individual invoice.


Warranties

Hardware Repairs: NBTech offers a 3-month warranty on hardware repairs unless otherwise specified. Repairs that are considered temporary will be advised to me, the client before the work is commissioned.


Software Repairs: Due to the nature of software it is impossible to warranty against software problems, however, if the same fault re-occurs with 3 months of the original fault, NBTech will fix it again free of charge unless the fault is deemed to be end-user error.


Operating System Upgrades: NBTech offers a 30-day warranty on operating system upgrades, ensuring that the upgraded system operates smoothly without any major issues. If any problems related to the upgrade arise within 30 days, NBTech will address them free of charge, excluding any cases where the issues result from third-party software or user modifications.


New Computer Setup:

NBTech provides a 30-day warranty on new computer setups, ensuring that the computer is configured correctly with the requested software installed and data copied to it. This warranty covers issues directly related to the setup process, such as improper configurations, software installation errors, or system performance problems. Any issues related to these areas that arise within the 30-day period will be addressed at no additional charge. However, the warranty does not cover damage, user alterations, or software installation, configurations, or updates post-setup.


Virus Malware/Removal: Due to the ever-changing nature of viruses NBTech can only offer a 30-day warranty on this service, however, it is always the goal to make the machine as secure as possible.


Refurbished Computers: Unless specified otherwise all refurbished machines come with a 6-month hardware warranty. No warranty is implied or given on data stored on the machine. For example, if a hard drive fails within the warranty period on a computer provided by NBTech, the hard drive will be replaced free of charge under warranty but any possible data recovery will incur an additional charge. Any given warranty does not cover damage caused by the end-user, for example, a dropped device, a power surge, liquid damage, etc. Any given warranty starts from the date of invoice.


Abandoned Devices

NBTech will securely store devices for one month before considering them abandoned. Once a device is deemed abandoned, it will be securely wiped and recycled. Clients are responsible for paying for any services rendered up to that point, as well as the applicable device recycling fee.
